WhatsApp is working on a feature to transcribe voice messages, which was originally uncovered in September 2021 but was interrupted for unknown reasons.
WhatsApp is now providing a notice when transcription is unavailable for voice messages, such as when the app doesn’t recognize words or sets transcripts to the sender’s language.
Voice note transcriptions are processed locally and never shared with WhatsApp or Apple, making them the only way to access them.
